Role Summary/Purpose The Mining Application Engineer (MAE)will work closely with other GE teams, end users and influencers to create value add solutions and GE preference for our Industrial Solutions Business. The MAE will work across GE businesses, functions and regions to meet customer expectations and ensure a coordinated GE response to request for support and quotation. The role will ideally be located in Perth but could also be based in Brisbane or Sydney.
Essential Responsibilities The key focus of the Mining Application Engineer for Industrial Solutions is to act as a conduit to identify and share current and emerging customer commercial and technical needs to enhance our tactical and strategic product positioning.
You will;
• Proactively promote and position GE early in the project phase to create value and influence
• Provide industry expertise to Sales & Commercial Operations in selecting, implementing, and developing competitive product applications to address electrical safety & efficiency, sensing, remote monitoring & controlling motor & drives equipment in the mining industry.
• Estimate GE equipment and system requirements, hardware and price for budgetary estimates.
• Assess competitive system performance & hardware evaluation throughout the entire bid process.
• Identify PC, GE Mining or customers’ needs (New Product Introduction) and communicate it back to the businesses and product management team
• Participate in customer presentations, discussions, negotiations, conferences, and all front line marketing/sales efforts. Be a catalyst in problem solving
• Work with specification and sales resources to lead electrical project design and scope at customer meetings, maintaining a high level of business acumen.
• Train sales force to empower them with the latest industry knowledge and information.
• Collaborate and participate as a member of the industrial vertical team to create and communicate the Industrial Solutions value proposition.
• Maintain expertise on product and technology knowledge, international codes and standards, and processing technology advances.
Qualifications/Requirements • You will have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant Engineering field (extensive field service can be a substitute for these qualifications)
• Extensive experience in sales or systems work areas associated with mining electrical power systems, and mechanical motor and drives operation. Experience working in the Mining industry in Australia.
• Must be willing to travel extensively around Australia and overseas as required
